Application Process

| Before you can complete a Thomson Virtual application form you must pass an entrance exam. Don't worry its nothing to be scared of. We just want to make sure that you have the right basic knowledge to join our airline. You have to answer 35 simple questions on flying and also flying online. Once you have successfully completed the exam you will then be able to fill in our application form and get immediate membership to the airline. There is a time limit to the exam of 35 minutes. |

What you need to know
|
| You will need to know the following to take the exam |
| - Basic aircraft and navigation knowledge (using the Flight Simulator Tutorials will help). |
| - How to fly online using VATSIM. Some hours on VATSIM will help with this. |
| - Basic emergency handling situations such as how to recover from a stall. |
| - Radio telephony skills such has how to request clearance |
| - Thomson Virtual operating procedures. You can use our pilot resource center to find these out. |
| - You will be asked some questions on Meteorology. A very basic understanding of METARS will be very useful. |
| - With all questions the best advice we can give is to "read the question". Often the answers can be worked out simply by ruling out some of the other options. |
| - Please note: you must complete your first flight within seven days of joining and all subsequent flights within 28 days of each other. Failure to do this will result in automatic termination of your membership. |

Taking the Entrance Exam

We have noticed that many people are failing the entrance exam on some of the most simple questions. Example: "Where can you find all of the flying check lists?". For this question a quick browse of all accessible areas of the site before taking the exam would easily help you to answer the question. Please do the following before taking the exam:

| - DO have a look around the website. |
| - DO read the accessible areas of the PRC. |
| - DO become familiar with leave policy, inactivity, policy. |
| - DO have a look at the career guide. |
| The exam is actually very easy if you take the time to learn some basic knowledge about the VA and read the questions properly. Often there is only one correct answer which you can easily deduce from the other remaining options. E.g. "What is the standard glide slope angle?" One of the options is 45 degrees! Have you ever flown a 45 degree approach? Read the question and then all of the answers! |
