Introduction
|
| Thomson Virtual has a combined leave and activity system. The basic rules are as follows: |
| |
| 1. New members must fly within 7 days of joining. |
| 2. You must file one approved PIREP (pilot report) every 28 days. That means you must fly once every 28 days. |
| 3. You get a generous 90 days leave per year (pro-rated on your first year). |
| 4. You cannot go on leave until you have completed at least one flight. |
| |
| If you do not fly within the timings stated above you will be placed onto the airlines inactivity report. This will lead to automatic deactivation of your flying account. |
| |
Why do we do this?
|
| We like to preserve the website resources for active pilots. Also we think that if you cannot fly once within 28 days then what is the point of being in the virtual airline? Especially when you consider that one flight may be a short hop taking around 30 minutes! |
| |
What if I know I cannot fly?
|
| This is when the leave system comes in. If you know you cannot meet your 28 day flight schedule then you can place yourself on leave. Whilst you are on leave you cannot become inactive. You will be automatically taken off leave when your years leave allowance is used. If you are on leave over new year then we will automatically keep you on leave into the following year. However, we don't carry over unused leave days. |
| |
Should I go on leave if I am away for a few days?
|
| No. If you can meet the one flight per 28 days policy taking into account when you are away then there is no point in using up your leave. You should only use your leave when you know that you cannot fly and are likely to not meet the above stated requirement. |
| |
How do I access the leave system?
|
| You can access the leave system from your profile. |
| |
What if my account is closed due to inactivity?
|
| Please write to HR using the contact us page to discuss the re-opening of your account. |
| |
Can my account be closed if I am on leave?
|
| No. You will remain active as long as you are on leave, even if you have not flown within 28 days. |
| |
What if I use all of my leave allowance?
|
| We will write to you 7 days before your leave allowance is used*. If you are still on leave when your allowance is used we will automatically take you off leave and put you back onto the flying roster. Please note that if you have not flown within 28 days from the date of your last flight your account will be automatically closed. |
| * Only for pilots who are eligible for more than 7 days leave per year. |
| |
Do I get 28 days from when I return from leave?
|
| No. Your 28 days does not restart from when you come back from leave. If you come off leave and have not flown for 28 days since your last flight, your account will be automatically closed as per our terms and conditions. We would advise all pilots when returning from leave to ensure that they have flown within 28 days or their accounts will be automatically closed. |
