Introduction

At Thomson Virtual we want you have to a fun and rewarding virtual career. Therefore we have put together a promotion framework to reward our pilots and give them recognition within the virtual airline. This section outlines how your career will progress and how to apply for other positions within the virtual airline.

Career Development

As you fly and log your PIREP reports with the airline (using FTS) you will automatically build up flying hours against your logbook. As you reach certain hours milestones your rank will be automatically changed to recognise your increased seniority. In addition to this from time to time there will be various staff positions advertised which you can apply for which will give you increased responsibility in the organisation.

Thomson Virtual is always looking for committed and experienced people to help us expand our operations and promote our professional standing in the virtual airline community. To apply for a position outside of the normal pilots ranks you will need to demonstrate your commitment to the airline and also that you have the skills to fit the role. Positions will be advertised, first internally as they become available. Interested parties should send in their CV and then expect an interview with the Thomson Virtual team (typically two representatives).

The pilots rank structure is as follows:

Certifications

We give pilots the opportunity to self certify themselves in various areas of our operation. This is achieved by self study and then taking the relevant exam. We see this as an important way for pilots to build their virtual flying skills and in the process gain recognition for their efforts. The following certifications are available:
Issued for passing the company operational procedures qualification..
Issued for passing the company Transatlantic Procedures qualification.
Issued for passing the company Communications Procedures qualification.

Appointment to Other Positions

When a position for an instructor becomes available, all members will be notified via a Notam on the flight operations centre. An email address will be detailed that you can use to contact the Training Manager to register your interest. Appointment to non-operational positions (e.g. Marketing Manager) will be considered for all members. Appointments to training instructors will only be considered for members having demonstrated competence in their flying ability through the FTS scoring system and deemed suitable by the training Director. This is to ensure that junior pilots get the best quality of instruction available.
